Nomi Epstein
Nomi Epstein is active as a composer, concert organizer, and music educator. She has earned degrees from Columbia University and New England Conservatory. Her principal teachers include Fred Lerdahl, Michael Gandolfi, Marti Epstein, Amy Williams, Jay Alan Yim, and Augusta Read Thomas. During the summer of 2003, Nomi Epstein was invited to attend La Schola Cantorum’s month-long institute in Paris where her Piano Study was performed.
She attended the 2004 Summer Institute for Contemporary Piano Performance under the direction of Steve Drury at New England Conservatory. Her Music for Orchestra won the first annual Northwestern University Orchestra Composition Competition and was premiered by the Northwestern Chamber Orchestra in 2004. She has attended the Music 05 Festival at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music as well as the Fontainebleau School for the Arts in France.
In November 2005, Epstein was invited to participate in the Young Composer Workshop under Jo Kondo at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Epstein’s works have been performed at various venues in Boston, New York, New Haven, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Paris, France.
